This plasma-dissolved oxygen reaches areas of the body where blood flow may be compromised — ischaemic tissue, wound margins, post-surgical sites, and areas of chronic inflammation. The physiological effects documented in clinical research include accelerated wound healing, reduction of inflammation, stimulation of angiogenesis (the formation of new blood vessels), enhanced white blood cell function, and in emerging research, neurological repair and cognitive restoration.


Mild hyperbaric chambers — operating at pressures of 1.3 to 1.5 atmospheres, typically with ambient air enriched with oxygen rather than 100% oxygen — are positioned in the wellness market as recovery and performance enhancement tools. While the physiological effects of mild HBOT are less dramatic than clinical HBOT, research does support benefits for inflammation reduction, athletic recovery, and general wellbeing at these lower pressure levels.


The Risk Profile: Why HBOT Demands Exceptional Operational Standards

Mild hyperbaric operations at 1.3 to 1.5 atmospheres carry a meaningfully lower risk profile than full clinical HBOT, but they are not risk-free. Facilities must maintain chamber integrity and certification, enforce clear contraindication screening, and ensure staff are trained in emergency pressurisation procedures.


The Regulatory Landscape and Insurance Imperative
